With Ashton Cook and Hannah Montoya each earning two individual trips to the top of the podium, plus Hayden Mixon, Kaylee Brus and Jage Stokes one each, along with four relay wins, the Andrews Mustangs boys swim team easily won the Monahans Invitational while the girls placed second. The Andrews boys totaled 583 points to beat second place Monahans by 160, while the Lady Mustangs ended up with 429 to place second behind Monahans’ 568 team total. Cook won both the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.43 and the 100 breast with a 1:08.45 while Montoya was the best in the girls 200 IM with a 2:30.63 and the 100 free with a 59.16. Mixon won the boys one-meter diving with a 195.60 total, Kaylee Brus dusted the field in the 500 free with a 5:46.97 and Stokes swam a 58.13 to win the 100 breast. In the relays, the boys 200 medley plus the 200 and 400 free relays reached the finish line first. The 200 medley of Stokes, Cook, Adam Mora and Joel Patin won with a 1:47.86, the 200 free combo of Evan Tompkins, Hayden Jennings, Colbrin Middlebrooks and Stokes won with a 1:37.24 and the 400 free foursome of Patin, Middlebrooks, Mora and Cook bested the field with a 3:36.18. In the girls relay, the 200 medley of Tatum Holley, Claire Cooper, Montoya and Rebecca Jays posted a 2:07.38 for their trip to the top of the podium. Adding second place finishes were Patin, James, Scarlett Whittle, Mora and two relay teams. Medaling with third place showings were Meilani Short (two), Evan Tompkins, Jennings, and Middlebrooks. Top five had Rachel Beatty, Cooper, Luke Tompkins, Whittle, Obed Ramirez Heredia, Brycen Ferguson, Stokes, Evan Tompkins and Brus. Scoring team points with sixth through 10 were Julian Cortez, Juan Rondan, Tristan Anderson, Beatty, Cooper, James, Charleigh Bohannan, Davanee Murdock, Ashton Author, Cadence Mitchell and John Gonzalez.
