Velma Jo Riemenschneider, 87, of San Angelo and formerly of Andrews, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 in San Angelo.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 201 NE 2nd Street, in Andrews with Pastor Brant O’Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 9 PM on Wednesday, 9 AM – 9 PM on Thursday, and 9 AM – 12 PM on Friday at McNett Funeral Home. Velma was born on July 18, 1931 in Kingsville, Texas to Edward Hurshell Day and Alcie Oertle Day. She was raised in Kingsville and San Antonio and graduated from G.W. Brackenridge High School in San Antonio in 1949. She married Billy Ray Riemenschneider on September 18, 1949 in San Antonio. They moved to Andrews in 1959 from Colorado City. While in Andrews, they were long time members of the Exxon Annuitant Club. They were long time members of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, where they taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and she was involved in Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). Her passion was to be a great wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She loved to decorate for every holiday, travel, play bingo with family and friends, and always had a smile on her face. Bill preceded her in death on June 12, 2003, and she moved in 2006 to live with her daughter, Debbi, in San Angelo. While in San Angelo, she attended Grape Creek Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Louise Williamson, and brother, George W. Day.

Velma is survived by her 3 daughters, Peggy Neinast of Andrews, Sandra Holland and husband, Bob, of Irving, and Debbi Riemenschneider of San Angelo; 1 sister, Edwina Montgomery and husband, Kenneth, of Huntsville; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
