Randolph “Randy” Wade Gunter, 95, of Andrews, TX passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, August 21. 2023.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Andrews with Mark Warren officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of Mc-Nett Funeral Home.

Randy was born on July 23, 1928 in Wellington, Texas to Chester Madison Gunter and Bessie Verona (Scott) Gunter. He married Rozleah “Roza” Barrett on July 16, 1955 in Andrews, Texas. They were married 54 years until her passing in 2009. Randy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas and also graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a Pastor at several churches in the Salt Lake City area of Utah and was later a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Andrews, TX. When his children were small, Randy obtained his small plane pilot’s license and flew his family to Texas for vacation one year. He was a volunteer in the Andrews Literacy program teaching Reading, Math, and English and also taught himself Spanish to facilitate his mentoring/teaching. He worked with the Kairos Prison Ministry, was a past Senior Board member of the Andrews Senior Citizen Center and gave generously to causes he believed in, as well as to individuals he sought to help. He was a very caring, kind, and gentle man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Randy is survived by sons Richard Gunter (Vicki) of Andrews, TX, Matt Gunter (Joy) of Salt Lake City, UT, Tim Gunter of Nampa, ID, and a daughter Robin Warren (Mark) of Wesley Chapel, FL, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
