Marilyn Kay Hemann

Marilyn Kay Hemann, a beacon of faith and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024, in Andrews, Texas. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on January 31, 1960, to Herbert and Lucille Luyet, Marilyn’s life was one of devotion, service, and joy that touched everyone she knew.

Marilyn’s early years in Little Rock laid the foundation for a life full of love and commitment to her community. She was a cherished sister to Jerry Luyet, Thomas Luyet and his wife Deana, Victoria Linn and her husband Steven, Dana Musquiz and her husband Joe, and Lisa Luyet. Her caring spirit extended to her beloved Aunt Sylvia Savoy of Lake Charles, LA, and she held fond memories of her late parents and Aunt Geraldine Rambo.

In 1991, Marilyn married the love of her life, Charles J. Hemann, in a ceremony that celebrated their shared values and commitment to family. Together, they built a life in Andrews, Texas, and were blessed with three children: Nicholas Hemann and his wife Autumn of Midland, TX; Michael Hemann of Sherwood, AR; and Jennifer Hemann of Andrews, TX. Marilyn’s role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she nurtured her children with the same love and guidance that she extended to all those around her.

Marilyn’s professional journey was deeply intertwined with her faith. She began her career serving the congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, TX, as a dedicated secretary, and Director of Religious Education for 15 years. Her passion for religious education and her pursuit of a Masters degree led her to become the Director of Religious Education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, a position she held and cherished for 10 years. Her commitment to teaching and guiding the children in her church was a true reflection of her generous spirit.

Beyond her professional life, Marilyn was a collector of Hallmark Ornaments and Elephants, finding joy in the beauty and uniqueness of each piece. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through her enjoyment of selling Mary Kay Cosmetics, and her love of nature was evident in her delight for gardening. Marilyn embraced the modern world with enthusiasm, often seen playing Pokémon Go, which brought her unexpected moments of happiness and connection with her family and community.

Above all, Marilyn loved her family fiercely and lived her faith with conviction. Her warm presence and the wisdom she imparted will be deeply missed by her husband, children, siblings, extended family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Marilyn’s journey on earth has ended, but her spirit continues to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved parents and aunt in eternal rest. Her memory will forever be a blessing to us all.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the PRMC Hospice Staff, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, DeDe and Perry Crowder, Houston Methodist ALS Clinic, the Jaramillo Family and all who have prayed for her.

Family and friends gathered for a Mass at 2:00PM, Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Odessa, TX. A visitation will be held from 4:00PM-7:00PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosery to follow from 7:00PM9:00PM.
