Luz Hernandez, 90, of Andrews passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Filadelfia Assembly of God Church, 260 SE 1000, in Andrews with Becky Emiliano of Andrews officiating and visitation will be at McNett Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Prayer services will be at 7:00 PM Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Luz was born on February 14, 1928 in Malaga, New Mexico to Martin Guerra and Juana Sanchez Guerra. She was raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico and moved to Andrews in 1951. She was married to Lorenzo Hernandez, and he preceded her in death. She was married to Jesus Carrasco Velasquez, and he preceded her in death. She had worked in the kitchen for Permian General Hospital and was a faithful member of Filadelfia Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed watching the Price is Right, Young and the Restless, and QVC. She was a very honest woman that did not sugar coat things. She loved spending time and cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Luz is survived by her daughter, Mary A. Valles and husband, Carlos, of Andrews; 5 siblings, Emma Rodriguez, Bel-en Guerra, and Hector Guerra, all of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Maria Lund of Golden, Colorado, and Alicia Anderson of Maple Valley, Washington; 5 grandchildren, Rudy Rodriguez, Esperanza Rosa, Brenda Caballero, Chelsea Roberts, and Amanda Buck; 11 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Luz was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, daughter, Esperanza Buendia, son, Ruben Hernandez, 2 sisters, Octaviana Gonzales and Laurencia Fierro, 2 brothers, Joe and Bernabe Guerra, grandson, Charlie Valles, and great grandson, Marcus Rodriguez.

The family appreciates the love and care for her from the doctors, staff, and hospice workers at Permian Residential Care Center, so memorials may be sent to PRMC Hospice or Filadelfia Assembly of God Church.
