Jose Manuel Marquez, age 55, of Andrews, TX passed away surrounded by his family, Friday, January 6, 2023, in Andrews, TX.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, Texas with Father Patrick Akpanobonng officiating. Visitation was held Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 5:00PM-8:00PM at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing was held Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 1:00PM-7:00PM and a Rosary was held from 7:00PM-9:00PM. Arrangements are under the care of McNett Funeral Home.

Jose was born March 12, 1967 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Jesus P. Marquez and Manuela “Acosta” Marquez. Jose was a hardworking family man. He worked in the oil field for many years and was a mentor to many. He had a kind heart, he would give anyone the shirt off his back, and his home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay or a meal. Jose was a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan, he loved to BBQ, drink a beer and watch the game with his brothers. He was also an animal lover, he would take a stray off the street and bring it home and love it like he had had it its entire life. Jose was strong willed and stubborn; he was a fighter till the very end. He was a loved father, grandfather, brother, and friend he will be dearly missed by many.

Jose is survived by his mother: Manuela Marquez of Artesia, NM; brothers: Martin Marquez; Israel Marquez and wife Cindy; Jose Marquez Jr. and wife Carrie; and Robert Marquez all of Andrews, TX; sisters: Irma Peralta and husband Victor of Andrews, TX; Angie Marquez and partner Linda of Austin, TX; Mary Silvas of Artesia, NM; and Berta Marquez and husband Demas of Ft. Stockton, TX; daughter: Natalie Marquez and husband Trace of Andrews, TX; sons: Erik Marquez and wife Micaela; Jaime Marquez and wife Megan; and JoeAngel Mireles and wife Samantha all of Andrews, TX; stepdaughter Samantha Martinez of Andrews, TX; and 11 grandchildren: Joel Garcia, Weston Denby, Oliver Denby, Damien Rodriguez, Austin Marquez, Sebastan Marquez, Maisyn Marquez, Molley Marquez, Serenity Mireles, Elias Mireles, and Jazzi Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his father: Jesus Marquez; grandson: Roman Zarate; niece Martha Mata; and favorite uncle: Tio Joe.
