Jorge Osbaldo Rondan
Jorge Osbaldo Rondan, a cherished family patriarch, respected community member, and a man of boundless zest for life, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, in Andrews, Texas. Born on March 28, 1940, in Ciudad Allende, Mexico, to Luis and Dolores Rondan, Jorge’s journey was one marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
Friends and family were received Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 1:00 PM at The Family’s Home, 2750 NE 480 Andrews, TX 79714. A Rosary was held at 7:00PM Wednesday, December 20, 2023, also at the Family’s Home. A funeral service was held Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, TX, with Father Joseph Ogbonna officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Andrews North Cemetery.
Jorge’s life was a testament to his strength and work ethic. At the tender age of 14, he moved to the United States, where he began his lifelong career as a rancher before transitioning into the oil industry. For over four decades, Jorge worked as an operator in the oil fields, showcasing his remarkable commitment to providing for his loved ones.
On November 26, 1960, Jorge married the love of his life, Maria, in Mexico. Together, they built a family foundation of love and laughter that would endure for generations. Jorge was a devoted father to his sons, Jose, Jesse and his wife Damiana, Juan and his wife Leticia, and George and his wife Patricia; his daughters, Maria Jimenez and her husband Fernando, Anna, and Carmen Brown and her husband Wayne. He was a guiding light and source of wisdom for his 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, who will carry his legacy forward.
Jorge was also a beloved brother to Juan Raul and Guadalupe Rondan, Victoria Santibanez, Rosario Rondan, and Consuelo Martinez, all of whom reside in Mexico. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of family bonds. Jorge was predeceased by his treasured wife, Maria, his parents Luis and Dolores, his daughter Maria, his grandsons Juan Jose Rondan and Aaron Nathanial Armenta, and his brothers Luis and Jesus Rondan.
Beyond his work and family, Jorge had a zest for life that was expressed through his diverse interests. He was a true cowboy at heart, with a passion for horses and roosters that was second to none. Those who knew Jorge knew of his culinary skills, as he loved to cook and often shared this love with his family and friends. His talent for storytelling captivated the hearts and imaginations of many, leaving behind a treasure trove of cherished memories.
An avid sports enthusiast, Jorge could often be found cheering on his favorite boxing and MMA fighters or watching horse races with keen interest. His laughter and jovial spirit made him a joy to be around.
As we bid farewell to Jorge, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man wellloved, and a story welltold. His spirit, wisdom, and laughter will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Jorge Osbaldo Rondan will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the lives he enriched along the way.
