Jean LaVelle Eaton, 93, a resident of Baptist Retirement Center in San Angelo, Texas passed away on August 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in Big Spring, Texas, daughter of Claude and Zellah Walker, on October 24, 1927.

Jean and her husband Jim were longtime residents of Andrews, Texas, where she was a teacher in the Andrews ISD system for 28 years. The Eaton’s were members of The First Baptist Church in Andrews for over 50 years.

Jean and Jim (deceased 2015) moved to the Baptist Retirement Center, San Angelo, in 2007. Jean was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Melody Makers. She served in many capacities at BRC including President of the Auxiliary, Director of the Thrift Store for 7 years, Song Director at the High Rise services, and many other committees and areas of service.

Jean is a graduate of Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas and obtained her Master’s Degree through Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.

Jean LaVelle was a creative and adventurous person. She was a painter, potter, jewelry designer and creator, and craftsperson. Her artistic pieces are in homes and businesses throughout Texas, including several custom ceramic pots designed specifically for Fort Chadbourne in Texas. Jean travelled extensively including trips to Hawaii and Australia.

Jean LaVelle is survived by son, James K. Eaton, Jr. of BRC, San Angelo; daughter Janeene White, Mauriceville, Texas; son, John G. Eaton & wife Nichole, Lubbock, Texas; son, Jerry L. Eaton & wife Kris, Lubbock, Texas, and; grandsons Mark Eaton & wife Angela of San Angelo; Jamey White & wife Lisa of Round Rock, Texas; Joel White & wife Pam of Orange, Texas; granddaughter Melissa Eaton of Watauga, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, LaRue Robertson of Lindsey, OK.

Jean is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren along with numerous other loving nieces, nephews and family members.

A memorial service will be held on August 28, 2021, at 2:00PM, at the Baptist Retirement Center Chapel, San Angelo, Texas.
