Gloria N. Pennington age 87, of Meridian, met her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of January 20, 2021 surrounded by family at her home.

Funeral services will be at 11 A.M., Friday, January 22, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Meridian. Rev. Richard Creech will officiate. Private burial services will be held at Meridian Memorial Park. Visitation will follow the funeral service at the church.

Gloria Mince was born on November 27, 1933 to E.F. and Pearl Mince in the small community of China Grove, near Canton, Texas. She attended Martins Mill schools, where she graduated high school and met the love of her life. Gloria went to Henderson County Junior College. She married James Pennington on December 20, 1952. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Miles,Ballinger, Andrews and a 30 year faithful member of the Meridian First Baptist Church. Gloria worked as a secretary to the Superintendent in Miles and also in Ballinger School District and worked as the Athletic Director’s secretary in the Andrews Independent School District until she retired in 1992. She was always very active in the church, teaching Sunday School, keeping babies in the nursery, and after she retired she started working in the kitchen. In everything she did, she served others and took every opportunity to share her love of the Lord. Her greatest joy were her three grandchildren, James Michael Stevens, Kaylee Nicole Morgan and Cayden Samuel Morgan.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 68 years, James Pennington; daughters, Sherry Stevens of Corinth, Lori Morgan and husband, Ernie of Big Spring; grandchildren, Michael, Kaylee, and Cayden; brother, Aloren Mince and wife, Patty; sister-in-law, Marie Mince; other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; E.F. (Flynn) and Pearl Mince; brothers, Wetah Mince and Clifton (Bubby) Mince; along with numerous aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gloria’s honor to: Baptist Convention of Texas Mission Fund; 7557 Rambler Rd. Suite 1200; Dallas, Texas 75231-2388

Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
