Frank Buck Main

Frank Buck Main, age 78, of Andrews, TX, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, in Andrews, TX. He was born February 3, 1944, in Roy, New Mexico to Frank Buck Main Sr. and Edna “Payne” Main.

Buck will be laid to rest privately, and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of McNett Funeral Home.

“Buck” spent his childhood on the family ranch in Roy, New Mexico. His parents Frank and Enda also had sons Bob and Jack with Buck being the youngest. Buck’s father died suddenly while Buck was still young and that prompted his mother to move him off the ranch. Both sets of Buck’s grandparents lived in Thalia, Texas where he spent much of his youth. His grandparents were a big part of his childhood, and he also spent much time with his uncle Fred Main and aunt Emma Main. They helped him along the way, and he helped them with tractor driving and other farm activities. Buck later went on to join the military and was proud to serve his country.

Most of Buck’s career was in the oil patch running rigs from the high plains to the Gulf of Mexico. His work took him to many exotic places, and he had several stories to paint the picture of how interesting the things were that he saw and did. Buck was probably most proud of receiving his 40-year pin from A.A. Recently. A.A. was a big part of Buck’s life and he made many friends over the years. To say Buck was a character is an understatement. His interesting and funny stories along with his big heart and kindness will be missed by his family and many friends.
