Charles Welford Hines, age 92, of Midland, TX., passed away, September 11, 2022, in Midland, TX.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at The Andrews County Old Cemetery in Andrews, Texas with Shannon Stilwell Officiating. Arrangements are under the care of McNett Funeral Home.

Charles was born December 3, 1929, in Rule, Texas to Herbert A. Hines and Evelyn S. “Malone”. Charles was a proud veteran of the U.S Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years. Charles enlisted in the Air Force is December of 1949 and reenlisted 2 additional times before retiring in 1970. Of the 20 years in service, he spent 5 ½ overseas. In 1957 he was granted the rank of Staff Sargent, and from 1961 – 1969 he received the Small Arms Expert Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star, and the Airforce Longevity Service Metal. After retiring from the Air Force Charles found a hobby in collecting coins. Charles spent the last 30 years of his life with his 1st Cousin Norma Braswell Dickerson. They had grown up together and took great care of each other. He was a great man and will be dearly missed.

Charles is survived by his cousins: Randy Stilwell and wife Reba of Midland, Texas. Sandy Stilwell and wife Karen of Eunice, New Mexico. Nancy Ziegler of Dallas, Texas, and Lela Gayle Braswell Merz of Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Herbert and Evelyn Hines, Brother: Alvin Hines and Cousin Norma Dickerson.
