Arthurene “Artie”

Arthurene “Artie” Kelly Freeze, 89, of Andrews, Texas went to her heavenly home to meet Jesus on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 4, 2023 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glenn Hammack officiating. Interment following in the Andrews West Cemetery.

Artie was born on March 18, 1934, in Aransas Pass, Texas to Daniel and Gretchen Kelly. On November 23, 1950 she married the love of her life, Lawrence Freeze in Aransas Pass. They were happily married for 71 years until Lawrence preceded her in death on July 24, 2022.

One of her many joys was attending church, and in her earlier years, she played the piano during the song service. Artie was never afraid to share her faith, always including how good God had been to her. She was a member of the House of Mercy Ministries. Artie had a beautiful soul that always had a smile and a kind word for anyone she met. She loved people, but most of all she loved to tease and make people laugh. Her greatest attribute was being able to laugh at herself.

Artie was a devoted mom and homemaker for many years. Although she was great at driving a school bus and working in the grocery stores, she was best at being a maw maw. Artie enjoyed keeping her grandkids and supporting them at their various events. They made her very proud as she attended many graduations and weddings.

Artie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence and son Ricky.

She is survived by her son Larry Freeze (Ginger) of Bryan, TX, daughters Marsha McCance (Rick) of Savannah, TX and Lisa Atkins (Mark) of Andrews, TX, daughterin- law Dena Freeze of Wichita, KS and brother Jerry Kelly of Rockport, TX. She had 10 grandchildren: Angela and Marcus Freeze, Ryan and Brandon Atkins, Kimberly Christian, Melissa and Dustin McCance, Amber Carter, Candice and Trisha Freeze along with 14 great-grandchildren.

Donations can be made in Artie’s memory to the House of Mercy Ministries, PO Box 1805, Andrews, TX 79714.
