New process for bulky waste in city’s alleys

To combat what city officials feel is a growing problem of bulky waste being deposited in alleys, the city council on Thursday approved a new strategy and requirements for the waste.

The ordinance requires residents to keep alley and dumpster areas free of bulky waste with the exception of scheduled times leading up to periodic pick-up for customers who can’t haul that type of waste to the city landfill.

Hospital board accepts resignation from Precinct 2 rep

The hospital board on Thursday accepted the resignation of Precinct 2 Board Member Nancy Crow, who is moving from Andrews to be closer to family.

Crow served in the position for a couple of years after it was vacated by Ron Huckabay and provided a nursing perspective to the board, according to Permian Regional Medical Center CEO Donny Booth.

“She was previously a nurse and had worked for PRMC in labor and delivery for quite some time,” Booth said. “She retired and when the position became available she felt interested in serving.
