Wilma Jo Rodgers Cathey, 89, of Andrews departed this life to be at home forever with the Lord on October 14, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she left this word after a brief illness.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life on Friday, October 22, at 4:00 pm at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Pastor Kevin Covington officiating. Visitation was from 6-8 pm on Thursday, October 21st at McNett Funeral Home. Internment followed in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.

Wilma Jo Rodgers was born on July 8, 1932, in O’Donnell, Texas to John and Dora Rodgers. She graduated from Seagraves High School on May 24, 1951. After graduation she moved to Midland to work for the Bell Telephone Company as an operator and her tenure there lasted over 10 years. She married T.W. “Tommy” Cathey on February 2, 1957, in Lovington, NM. They were married for 42 years before his passing on November 1, 2000. The couple had three children, Mikel “Huck”, Cheryl, and Sharon.

She loved the Lord, her family, her church family, and her friends. She was highly esteemed as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Those who knew her loved her dearly for her soft spoken and loving spirit, which touched many lives. She instilled in her family to always be grateful in the good times as well as the bad. Many have stated that she had the heart of a servant as she strived daily to live life in a way that was pleasing to the Lord. Wilma loved caring for her flowers, reading, and spending time with those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.W. “Tommy” Cathey, parents John and Dora Rodgers, her twin brother Wilburn Rodgers, Step-Father Joe Williams, brothers Otis Rodgers, John Rodgers, Roy Williams, and Joedd Williams; sisters Angie Williams, Naoma Williams, Josie Adams, and Ruth Deere.

Wilma is survived by her children Mikel “Huck” Cathey and wife Denise, Cheryl Veretto and husband Eddie, Sharon Warnick and husband Ricky, all of Andrews; grandchildren Shelly Merrell and husband P’Jay of Idalou, Texas, Misti Greaud and husband Danny of Edmond, Oklahoma, Derek Cathey and wife Lisa of Andrews, Venessia Adam and husband Josh of Andrews, Michael Veretto and wife Britni of Odessa, Texas, Skyler Lowe of Andrews, and Rick Warnick and wife Christina of Andrews; brothers in law Jim Cathey of McGregor, Texas, Bob and wife Corki Cathey of Hamilton, Texas, and Billy Joe Cathey and wife Judy of Artesia, NM; sister in law Mary Williams of Seagraves, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pall Bearers are grandsons and greatgrandsons Derek Cathey, Michael Veretto, Danny Greaud, Josh Adam, P’Jay Merrell, Davis Greaud, Drake Greaud, and Hunter Cathey. Honorary Pall Bearers include Cooper Veretto, Preston Merrell, Conner Adam, Kason Adam, Kanon Lowe, Cody Warnick, Joe Griffith, and Jace Griffith.
