Rebeka Lenn Young Tucker, 81, of Andrews passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, June 28, 2021 in Andrews, Texas. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Friday, July 2, 2021 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin S. Bushart and Rev. Rick Doyle officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 1st Mc-Nett Funeral Home.

Lenn was born on August 9, 1939 in Archer City, Texas to Helen Abercrombie and William C. (Bill) Young. She graduated from Archer City High School and attended TCU where she was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority. Lenn graduated from Midwestern University with an elementary education degree. She married her college sweetheart Gerry H. Tucker in Archer City, Texas on December 22, 1960.

From her earliest days in Andrews, Lenn was known as an ardent supporter of her community. She taught 6th grade at Glorietta Elementary and was a member of the Means Memorial Methodist Church for almost 60 years. She and Gerry sang in the church choir and served on numerous church committees. Lenn loved to cook and her pies were a staple at church and family gatherings. Lenn was also an avid reader and served for many years on the Friends of the Andrews County Library Board. She’s also been an active member of the Permian Basin Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Daughters of the American Revolution for more than 40 years. In celebration of their many contributions, Lenn and Gerry were honored as a Pioneer Family of the Year by the Andrews

Chamber of Commerce for their lifetime commitment to the betterment of the community.

Lenn also accumulated countless volunteer hours through the activities of her sons, Howdy and Matt, from serving as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts to supporting the Andrews County Junior Livestock

Association Board for more than a decade, including serving on the Board. Lenn was always ready with a smile to roll up her sleeves and help out whether that meant dropping off food in a time of need or supporting local children in their fundraising efforts. Her warm, infectious spirit will be missed by so many.

Lenn was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Sally and Sara; parents, Helen and Bill Young; sister Sara and brother-in-law John Demoss; nephew Bobby De-Moss; sister-in-law Judy Young; and nephew Michael Young.

Lenn is survived by her husband, Gerry Tucker; son Howdy Tucker and daughter-in-law Victoria; son Matt Tucker and daughter-in-law Mandy; granddaughter Avery Tucker; granddaughter Reagan Stanford and her husband, Travis; granddaughter Hayden Pistone and her husband, Dylan; grandson Colton Tucker; grandson Cameron Sullivan; brother Bill (Dub) Young; nephew Bill Demoss; niece Janice Young Henderson; nephew Will Young and his wife, Anne-Marie; niece Margaret Young; sister-in-law Micheal Ann Hall and her husband, Dowe; Brother-in-law Lee Van Tucker and his wife, Bette; niece Dustee Jenkins and her husband, Justin; niece Wendy Hall; nephew Trey Hall; cousin Kimbra Danley and her husband CJ; and cousin Kerry O’Keefe.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Lenn to Friends of the Andrews County Library at 109 NW First St., Andrews, TX 79714 or to Means Memorial Methodist Church at 311 NE Second St., Andrews, TX 79714.
