Patricia Ann Allen Wood Burkett was born on January 27, 1934, in Winkler, TX, and passed away, surrounded by her family, on January 6, 2022, in Fairfield, TX. She was the seventh of ten children born to William Bruce & Louella Bennett Allen. Pat attended schools in Winkler and Streetman and graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1951. She came to know Christ at an early age during a revival at Midway Baptist Church and along with her younger sister, Elaine, was baptized in a tank beside the church. In 1952, she married Max Wood and they had two children, Sharon and Charles. She worked at the old movie theatre, Fairfield State Bank, and served as Freestone County Treasurer from 1961-1977. She later moved to Andrews, TX and married Charles W. Burkett. They owned a couple of small businesses together and loved to travel, especially to visit their grandchildren. Pat loved Andrews and her many friends there. She was a member of Means Memorial Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, working with the Republican Party, making candy, and was a member of D.A.R. She loved her house in Ruidoso, New Mexico, going dancing, playing bridge, and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, until her eyesight and health brought her back to Fairfield.
