Andrews High School Student Council is proud to announce Audrie Blanco, daughter of Sergio and Monica Montantes, as the November recipient of the Golden Horseshoe Award. Each month the AHS faculty selects a senior student who exemplifies the traits of citizenship, community service, academic excellence, school participation, and leadership.

As a varsity athlete and student body president, Audrie has been involved in many high school activities throughout her high school career. She is a four year Student Council member and the 2021 President, three year Acapella member, three year track and cross country runner and three year varsity cheer where she currently serves as captain.

Audrie feels that responsibility, honesty, and integrity, are the qualities that are most important in a leader. “You must have all three of these to be a quality leader,” she said. “A leader is able to show true character [even] when people are not watching.”

Over the last four years, teachers and coaches have had the pleasure of watching Audrie grow both as a student and a leader.

“Audrie is a young lady who keeps her priorities straight, and does not deviate from her future plans,” Coach Wade Floyd said. “She is loyal to her family, community, and her school.

Audrie plans on continuing her cheer career in college as she pursues a nursing degree.
