Nelder “Nelda” Jean Proby

Nelder “Nelda” Jean Proby,71, passed away peacefully and happy at her home in Andrews, Texas.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Andrews Church of Christ with Rev. Leslie Boone, and Benny Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Mc-Nett Funeral Home.

Nelda was born on January 11, 1950 in Taylor, Texas to Frank Lu thridge and Betty Jean Wooldridge. She married Lonnie Earl Proby, Sr. on April 8,1981 in Andrews, Texas.

Nelda worked as a LVN most of her life at Permian General Hospital and also worked with Home Health. She loved cooking for people and had a dream of opening a restaurant. After lots of hard work, she and Lonnie opened Big Momma’s Café. She was loved and respected by those who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Neal Martin, Jr. and spouse Irene Martin of Menefee, California, Francis Harvard and spouse Anitra Owens of Andrews, Texas, and Lonnie Earl Proby Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, brother, Johnny Earl Mays Sr., and spouse Bernie Faye Mays, and nephew Johnny Earl Mays, Jr. of Andrews, Texas, 8 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.
