Melissa Ann “Chepa” Leyva, 52, of Andrews, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Temple, Texas.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 11, 2021, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas. Visitation was held on Thursday and Friday from 5-8 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born on January 20, 1969, in Odessa, Texas to Manuel Valenzuela and Janie Casarez. Malissa’s family and friend knew her as “Chepa”. She loved to cook, listen to all kinds of music especially country music, and to decorate for every holiday. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing games with her family. She loved watching football and was a huge 49ers fan. Chepa was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Freddy Plancarte, Felix Plancarte, and Abraham Plancarte, all of Andrews, Texas, brothers, Richard Valenzuela, and wife Maria, of Andrews, Texas, Turibio Murillo, and wife, Ernestina, of Lovington, New Mexico, and Leonard Murillo, of Andrews, Texas, sisters, Tammy Ruano, of Andrews, Texas, Francis Valenzuela, of Andrews, Texas, Savarene Ramirez, and husband Julio, of Andrews, Texas, and Genniva Ontiveros, and husband Ralf, of Lovington, New Mexico, and, grandchildren, Branson Plancarte, Daisy Plancarte, and Ayden Chavez.

She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Valenzuela, step-mom, Mary Valenzuela, and brother, Abraham Valenzuela.
