Mary Ann Donham

Mary Donham by her loved ones, Mary Ann Donham of Andrews went to see the Lord on July 24, 2022, at the age of 81.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 4, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas, with pastor Brant O’Conner officiating.

Mary was born on April 18, 1941, in Runnels County near Maverick, Texas to Jeff and Edna Hardy Harris. She spent her youth in the Maverick community and attended Norton High School. She graduated with the class of 1960. Mary attended the Maverick Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She walked by faith through her life following God’s plan during the good times and dark times without complaining.

Watching her mother instilled in Mary a deep love for home and family. She realized the eternal value of this and became a master homemaker who cared for her home and family. She was a marvelous baker (cookies, muffins, cornbread dressing), and gardener, and seamstress. A quote by the novelist Thomas Wolfe could be referring to Mary: “There is no spectacle on earth more appealing than that of a beautiful woman in the art of cooking dinner for those she loves”. Her happiest moments were spent with her husband Larry and other family members laughing and enjoying Christmas gathering, competitive games of 42, drinking a cup of Joe, backyard bird watching, fishing trips on the river and most of all just being together.

Mary Ann Harris and Larry Calvin Donham were married on August 27, 1965, in Coleman, Texas. Their 57 years together were spent enjoying their home in Andrews. They lived in Lubbock, Houston, and Andrews. They traveled miles to Red Raider basketball and football games. They enjoyed gospel music concerts and attended Gaither Concerts and the National Quartet conventions. Mary especially loved Branson, Missouri. Mary and Larry were members of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas for more than 50 years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Edna Hardy Harris. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Larry of Andrews, a brother, Jimmy Harris of Winters, Texas, and a sister and best friend Sallye Lyles and Tommy of Floydada, Texas. She is also survived by a special nephew Jeff, other beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.
