Leonard F. Partain, Sr.

Leonard F. Partain, Sr., 88, of Midland, went to join the heavenly choir on October 27, 2022. Graveside services were Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM. A reception was held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 between 6 and 8 PM at Andrews Corgill Funeral Home.

Leonard was born in Dover, AR on January 1, 1934, although he preferred the more colorful tale that he was born in Booger Hollar, AR. He was the oldest child of Omar and Leora Partain and was raised in Snyder, Texas. He raised his family in Andrews, TX with his first wife, Marthajane. He was an Elder and Deacon of the Southwest Church of Christ and was well known for his generosity and singing ability. He performed with one of the Stamps Baxter gospel quartets as a young man. He learned the value of hard work as a teenager working in the oil field for his father. He continued working in the oil patch for most of his adult life, although his many interests drew him occasionally into other ventures. He loved ideas, people, an entertaining tale and an animated but civil argument. After moving to Odessa and later San Angelo, Leonard was an active AA member, who helped many others, enlivened meetings, and had an open door for all, while maintaining his sobriety for over 40 years.

Leonard is survived by his children; Lettye Holland-Tubbs of Midland, and husband Richard, Len Partain of Andrews, and wife LeeAnn, and Angela Philley of Austin, and by their mother Martha Jane Voss Simpson of Midland; sister-in-law Pat Partain; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Omar and Leora Partain, sisters Ernestine Nolan and Leoma Hagan, a brother John Partain, a niece Laura Partain, a grandson Larry Scott Partain, and two sonsin- law, Paul Holland and Randy “Bear” Philley.
