Born on October 10, 1927, in Ackerly, Texas to Thomas Alvin and Cora Lee Niblett, he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, brother and friend, as well as a dancer extraordinaire. Lee was 100% Texan—he was graduated from Martin High School in Martin, Texas, worked for Phillips Petroleum for more than 30 years, and grew cotton and raised cattle on his farm in Andrews, Texas. As a boy, he loved his horse Sugarfoot so much that he even tried to take her into the classroom with him. His favorite past time was country western dancing and for years, he and his wife Patricia Hodges Niblett two-stepped across the state. For over 38 years, Lee served as District Director and Chairman of the Board for the Andrews Soil and Water Conservation District. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Lee is survived by two children, Michael Niblett and wife Kris, Lea Ann Niblett Cleveland and husband Dexter, three grandchildren Elizabeth Thornton, Josh Niblett and Casey Niblett, four great grandchildren, and three siblings, Carol Niblett, Gary Niblett and Darlene Weir. He also leaves a crowd of nieces and nephews who adored him. Lee is survived by loving friend and companion, JoAnn Lamb, who brought a great deal of support and joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Pat Hodges Niblett, a son, Terry Don Niblett, and two beloved sisters Doris and Joyce.

A memorial service to celebrate Lee’s life is being planned for March 12, 2022, in Andrews, Texas. Further details are pending.
