Justin Barry Hughes

Justin Barry Hughes, 39, of Lubbock, TX, passed away and was reunited with his brother Aaron “Hooter” Hughes on March 3rd, 2022. Justin was born February 3, 1983, in Lubbock, TX, the son of Barry and Susan (Sloan) Hughes.

Justin graduated from Andrews High School, Class of 2001, where he was a member of the Mighty Mustang Band. Following graduation, Justin moved to Midland, TX, where he worked at Odessa Country Club. He was tremendously dedicated to his work and members at the Country Club, earning the title of “Banquet Manager”. Recently, Justin called Lubbock home, where he started a successful career as a plumber.

Justin became a proud dad on April 6, 2009. Carson Barry Hughes was the light of his life. He loved watching him play baseball, hunting and playing video games in which Carson always won. Carson and Justin had a special bond and loved each other so much.

Justin will always be remembered as a fiercely loyal Father, Son, Brother, and friend to so many. He was always the first one to greet you with a smile, and probably a smart, sarcastic comment to follow. He was always present a day early to tell you “Happy Birthday”, and in a time of need, you could always count on the fact that he would be there to help or offer encouragement. It’s just who he was, and he was good at it.

Justin is survived by his son, Carson Barry Hughes, of Garland; parents, Barry and Susan Hughes, of Andrews; grandmother, Sue Sloan, of Paris, TX; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Justin was preceded in death by his brother, Aaron “Hooter” Hughes; grandparents, Tak and Margaret Hughes, and grandfather, Lynn Sloan.

A Celebration of Life service will be planned at a later date.

Those who wish to remember Justin in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Carson Hughes College Fund, Tad Darland, Edward Jones, 432-523-6869, or Tad.darland@edwardjones.com.
