Jana Ruth Craddock, a longtime resident of Andrews, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2020. She was 94 years old.

Jana was born June 9, 1926 in Lamesa, Texas to Leona Lambert Cox and Charles F. Cox. After graduating from high school in Lamesa and attending business college in Lubbock, she married James T. Craddock on February 1, 1947. The couple moved to Andrews in 1952. Jana and James were dedicated members of Means Memorial United Methodist Church and ardent fans of the Andrews Mustangs. Jana had a passion for reading and worked for many years in the libraries of the Andrews Independent School District. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she made her family her true life’s work. She was a fantastic cook, a passionate Christ-follower, a football fan, and a true matriarch in every sense of the word.

Jana was preceded in death by her husband, long-time Andrews County Clerk James T. Craddock. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Purtell, her son Jim Craddock and wife, Gay, and six grandchildren: Wade Purtell and wife, Cathy, Ryan Purtell and wife, Ashley, Lissa Barker and husband, Chris, Rachel Koenig and husband Kris, Kyle Craddock and wife, Christie, and Hayley Hahn and husband, Brian. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews. Visitation was held at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 3:00-7:00pm. Friends who would prefer a memorial other than flowers are encouraged to make a donation to the Methodist Children’s Home.
