Jackie Tolbert William Reed

Jackie Tolbert William Reed, age 69, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 in Kermit, TX. He was born on October 9, 1951 in Big Lake, Reagan County, TX to Earl James and Fanny Irene (Payne) Reed.

Jackie loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He enjoyed listening to rock music and spending time with his loyal bassett hound, Lucy. Jackie graduated from Rankin High School and obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University and Master’s degree from University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He worked as a teacher and guidance counselor at a number of campuses in Monahans, Kermit, Mansfield, and Andrews. Jackie’s grandkids called him “Papa” and he loved them dearly. His son, Michael Reed, held a special place in his heart. Jackie will be missed very much.

Jackie is survived by his son: Michael Reed and wife Krysta of Ft. Worth, TX; brother: Joe Reed and wife Leah of Alvin, TX; sister: Earlene Bazar of Graham, TX; grandchildren: Collin Reed and Heidi Reed; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Irene Reed; sister: Mary Leach; and brothers: Jerry Reed and Roy Reed.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 9, 2021 at Kermit Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
