George “Toby” Hatley, Sr., 83, of Wylie, Texas and formerly of Andrews, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Wylie.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at a memorial service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home, and inurnment of his cremains will be in the Andrews North Cemetery. George was born on June 4, 1935 in Rehoboth Mission, New Mexico to Samuel L. Hatley and Artie Violet Williams Hatley. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Totsy B. Drinkard on August 3, 1958 in Snyder, Texas. They lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico and moved to Andrews in 1981. He had worked as a welder for many years for Turner Kutrite Services. He had worked as a carpenter and did remodeling. He was a past member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1042 and The Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas.

He was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, where he had taught 3rd Grade Sunday School. He enjoyed carpentry, leatherwork, making ceramics with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren, especially at the city lake in Andrews. He moved to Wylie to be close to his son in 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 5, 2010, his parents, and a brother, Jack Hatley.

George is survived by his 3 children, Tammy Griego of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tyra Reyez and husband, Ivan, of Odessa, and Tracy Hatley and wife, Molly, of Wylie; 7 grandchildren, Jeremie Weston, Jessica Herrera, Janelle Griego, Yehoshua Reyez, Derek Bassham, Wesley Bassham, and Sarah Hatley; and 5 great grandchildren, Natalie Weston, Emily Weston, Danielle Herrera, Audrey Herrera, and Brianna Herrera.
