Elodia Bustamante Hernandez, 64, of Andrews passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family.

Family and Friends gathered to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Friday, August 20, 2021 at La Nueva Jerusalem in Andrews with Pastor Socorro Rios officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews North Cemetery. Her memorial tribute video is available for viewing online at www.mcnettfuneralhome.com

Elodia was born on October 15, 1956 to Eleuterio and Petra Saenz Bustamante in Barranco Azul, Ojinaga Chih. She attended school in Mexico as a young girl. One day, a handsome 15-year-old young man named Efren Hernandez was visiting from Brownfield when Elodia caught his eye. He really liked her and was excited when she later moved to Midland. He pursued her until he convinced her to marry him. Efren and Elodia were married on June 3, 1973 in Midland. Andrews became their home in 1975 and they have been blessed to raise their family here. The family jokingly says that Elodia raised 6 boys - 5 sons and Efren! She was a busy homemaker and an amazing cook. Her family was her life and she loved having them around her. Known as “Nana,” “Grandma,” and “Welita,” Elodia was friendly and loving, but knew how to be tough when needed. She was a classy lady and was always dressed “to the nines” every time she left the home. The most important thing to Elodia was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she loved serving at her church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Estella Garibay, Elida Pineda and Manuela Bustamante; and a brother, Heriberto Bustamante.

Elodia is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Efren Hernandez; 5 sons, Efren Hernandez, Jr. and wife Sulema, Eduardo Hernandez and Marlee Rodriguez, Eric Hernandez and Vanessa Rodriguez, Savino Hernandez and wife Christy, and Steven Hernandez, all of Andrews, TX; 3 sisters, Socorro Rios and husband Domingo, Elvira Sebian and husband John, and Enedina Arroyo and husband Mario; a brother, Emilio Bustamante and wife Sofia; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will cherish her memory and always remember her great love for them!
