Ed Ray, 80, of Andrews passed away on June 18, 2021.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Corn officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring at a later date.

He was born August 23, 1940, in Fannin County, Georgia to William Burton Ray, and Mae Bell May. He came to Andrews as a teen searching for work opportunities. Soon he began a career in the oil fields. Ed was a devoted father of two sons Darrell and Bruce. Ed had a passion for outdoor cooking, visiting with family, and spending time with his two dogs, Buddy and Harley. Ed was the perfect example of a kind and loving man. He will be remembered for his exceptional work ethic, stories, intelligence, humility, and quick wit.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years Valorie Ray of Andrews, Texas, sons Darrell Ray and wife Krista of Kingwood, Texas, Bruce Ray and wife Melody of Andrews, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren Taylor Ray of Odessa, Texas, Katie Ray of Abilene, Texas, Christopher Hammond and wife Taylor of Kingwood, Texas, Savannah Hammond of Kingwood, Texas, Rachael Ray of Kingwood, Texas, Walker Ray of Kingwood, Texas, Valerie Parnell and husband Chris of Midland, Texas, Madison Ray of Andrews, Texas, Deacon Ray of Andrews, Texas, Sydney Ray of Andrews, Texas, 4 greatgrandchildren, and 2 on the way. In addition, he is survived by David Winters and wife Rene of Leander, Texas and their two children Jeremy Winters of Blanco, Texas and Robert Winters of Leander, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
