Donnell Hitch, age 89, of Andrews, TX passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, May 20, 2022, in Andrews, TX.

Visitation was held Monday, May 23, 2022, from 6-8pm at McNett Funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of McNett Funeral Home.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 10:00 am at the McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, TX. Michael Christian and Darrell Christian will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Andrews Old Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Jay Mosley, Jaxon Mosley, Randy Willey, Kory Willey, Kyle Willey, Kolton Willey, Ervin Huddleston.

Donnell was born December 30, 1932, to Robert Weaver Hitch and Myrtle “Pace” Hitch in Andrews, TX. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean “Latham”, January 3, 1953, in Hobbs, NM. They spent 69 amazing years together. Donnell was a lifelong Andrews resident and had an unmatched work ethic. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War.

Donnell spent the majority of his working career managing Andrews Lumber Company and retired after faithfully serving the Andrews community for 35 years. When he wasn’t working Donnell loved spending time with his family, traveling, dancing and playing golf.

Donnell was a man of high moral character and one who you would want your kids to model their lives after.

Donnell is survived by his wife Bonnie Hitch of Andrews, TX; daughters: Jacqueline Davenport of Hazlehurst, GA, and Jana Christian and husband Darrell of Irving, TX; 5 grandchildren: Jay Mosley and wife Laura of Irving, TX, Jacie Mixon and husband Jim of Tifton, GA, Amber Hohman and wife Charley of Sachse, TX, Michael Christian and wife Natalie of Lubbock, TX, and Shawn Davenport and wife Megan of Hazlehurst, GA; and 16 great grandchildren: Christian, Jalynn, Lexus, Aidyn, Bree, Joryan, Jaxon, Mia Rose, Jameson, Stella, Mackenna, Peyton, Kinsler, Pacely, Kenna and Mary Margaret.

Donnell is preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Myrtle Hitch; 2 brothers: Harlan Hitch, and Nelson Hitch; and 2 sisters: Geneva Haley, and La Dean Warren.
