Cherry Ellen Abney

Cherry Ellen Abney was born November 13, 1947 in Foreman, Arkansas to parents Allen Otto and Constantine Dale (Dollarhide) Abney. She went home to be with The Lord peacefully on February 28, 2021 at the age of 73 in Plano, Texas.

Cherry had twin daughters AliceSun and SueSun at the age of 25 who were the lights of her life.

She worked a short time at Vivian Manufacturers as a seamstress making men’s dress pants for Sears. Later she worked at Merico Bakery in Paris, Texas. In 1979 she moved to Andrews, Texas and worked at Kirby Vacuum until retirement.

Cherry enjoyed music, dancing, laughing, cooking, reading and being silly with her family. She was a trustworthy and loyal friend. She was lighthearted; yet brave and courageous and was very empathetic for others and showed this in many ways and often throughout her life. Cherry was full of kindness and love; love of her children and strong and enduring to the end. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Cherry is survived by her twin daughters AliceSun Lynn Abney and SueSun Lynn Griffin and her husband Kelton; grandchildren Kory Rus Griffin, Thomas Andrew Abney and Kaleb James Griffin; siblings Y’vonne Simmons, James Abney and his wife Linda, Linda Bagley, Glen Abney and his wife Robyn and Margey Ysasi and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Tomas Abney, Mary Lois Lawrence, Ailene Abney Duley, Roy Abney, Wanda Williams, Timmy and Jimmy Abney and niece Connie Shruck.

The family will receive friends for a visitation Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas. A funeral service to celebrate Cherry’s life will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 1:00 at Allen Family Funeral Options.
