Billy D. Cox, 94, of Andrews, TX, passed away on January 4, 2019 in Odessa, TX.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 6th from 5 to 7 pm at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, TX.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Billy’s life at 2:00 PM Monday, January 7th at Andrews Church of Christ with Leslie Boone and Kevin Bullard officiating. Billy was born in Cisco, TX to R A and Essie (Northcott) Cox on February 25, 1924. He joined the army during World War II in 1943 and served overseas. After returning from the war, he moved to Andrews, TX where he bought a local drive-in hamburger restaurant. It was there he met Nell Floyd and the two were married on December 27, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. Billy worked for the Andrews telephone company for 27 years before purchasing Estelle’s Flowers and Gifts with Nell in 1977. He and Nell were the recipients of the Andrews Pioneer Citizen award. Billy was involved in the Lions Club, served on the AISD school board and is a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.

Billy is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother (Ray Cox) and sister (Helen Betenbough).

Billy is survived by wife Nell Cox of Andrews, sons Gary Cox (and Debbie Olson) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Brent (and Mary) Cox of Euless, Texas, grandchildren Sarah Cox, Megan (and John) Gideon, Lauren (and Jason) Uhrynowycz, Laura (and Brian) Shore and Caroline (and Zach) Townsend as well as four great-grandchildren.

The family of Billy wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to doctors, nurses, hospice organization and his many friends.
