Benjamin Blanton Kemp, “Ben”, formerly of Andrews, TX, passed away on August 9, 2021.

Ben was born approximately May 23, 1950, in the Sweetwater/ Roby area in West Texas, to Ben Kemp. Sr. and Marie Kemp (neè Bentle). He attended Sweetwater schools and was an athlete and competitor. He attended Sul Ross University on a football scholarship as a running back. He spent almost 50 years in the Oil and Gas Field and was one the hardest and most knowledgeable people in the area.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Ben and Marie Kemp, the love of his life and wife Jimmie Harrison Kemp, his beautiful daughter Nicole Kemp, and his youngest sister Benetta Kemp. He is survived by his son and his bride, and their son and daughter, Blair and Kaylynn, Tristan, and Waverly, His stepdaughter Leelyn Bishop, his sister Melvina Crouch and her family, his brother and Botha Kemp and his family, and a sweet aunt and cousins on the Bentle side of the family in Sweetwater.

Benji loved nature, travel, and History. He was always planning another trip to a national park and see the United States from his Winnebago. He loved audio books and had an amazing green thumb. Gardening was a joy in his life. He had the biggest heart and loved deeply, and always increased his knowledge of Our Lord and world history including battle movements and historical significance. He had a childlike wonder and loved to play to the end.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at McNett Funeral Home, 705 N. Main Street, Andrews, Texas. There was a be viewing for friends and family on Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 6pm until 9pm.
