Avonda Bruton, 79, of Andrews passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a graveside service at 11:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2019 in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Glenn Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday at McNett Funeral Home. Avonda was born on November 30, 1939 in Jal, New Mexico to Jeff General Bruton and Ada Marie Wright Bruton. Her family moved to Andrews in 1945 from Goldsmith. She was raised in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 1958. She was one of the first women in Andrews County to be a Roustabout, when she worked for Amoco. She had worked with her sister, Shetheilia, in medical records.

She enjoyed being outside, working in her yard, and she was famous for her world class cheeseburgers. She was the original Meals on Wheels, where she fed the sick, hungry, and lonely. She was special to many and loved by all. One of her favorite things to do was going on a Razoo with her sister, Shetheilia. She loved listening to Alan Jackson, Christian music, and John Hagee Ministries. She was a devoted Christian and wanted all of her family to know the Lord and serve him. She was a known to be a great caregiver and best friend to everyone. She loved playing with her grandchildren, especially cars and guns. She was known by them as “Gan Gan” and “Fondy”. She loved every cat in the neighborhood and named them all, especially “Gumdrop”. She was a past member of Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Shetheilia Neal, brother, Jack Dean Bruton, granddaughter, Kacey Robinson, and great granddaughter, Haven Patrick.

Avonda is survived by her 2 daughters, Tina Bruton Robinson of Andrews and Tammy Bruton Sanderson of Dallas, her special nephew who is like a son to her, Herbie Bruton and wife, Devi, 3 grandchildren, Blake Sanderson and wife, Haley, Morgan Chambers and husband, Nathan, and Raci Patrick and husband, Brad, 4 great grandchildren, Kay-lie and Garren Patrick and Connor and Cannon Chambers, and her closest friends, Frankie Garrett, DeDe Bowers, and the late Annette King.

The family would like to thank Dr. Muncy, Home Hospice in Andrews and their nurses, Linda Tolson, Mallorie Kitchens, Dolly Almon, and Kyle Yarbrough, and a special thanks to Donny and Tracy Spurlock for allowing Tina time off from work to be the full-time caregiver to her mother, Avonda.
