Visitation for Edwin Morrell Stewart, 83, of Midland was held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Services were held on Tuesday, Sept.18, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Brother Harvey Enriquez. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral home.
Stewart passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012.
Morrell was born March 31, 1929 to Vernon Eugene and Vernon Eugenia Stewart in Natchez, Miss. He joined the U.S. Army in 1949 and served as a sergeant until he was honorably discharged in 1952. Morrell married Josephine (Jo) Cook on May 30, 1953 in Natchez, Miss. and moved to Midland in 1955 where they raised their five children. They owned and operated M&J Construction.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Marie Stewart and grandson, Jeremy Morrell Stewart.
He is survived by his children, Ed Stewart and his wife Kim of Brownwood; Vernon Stewart and Stephanie of Highland Village; Maureen Wells and husband Jimmy of Forney; Lynn Stewart Pope of Hondo; and Rusty Stewart and wife Terresa of Andrews. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
