Maria Elena Quiroz Revelez

Maria Elena Quiroz Revelez, 84, of Andrews, TX, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life on Tuesday, June 20th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, Texas. A Rosary was held on Monday evening, June 19th at 7:00 pm at Mc-Nett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at the Andrews Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of McNett Funeral Home.

Elena was born on April 28, 1939, in El Mulato, Mexico to Dionicio Carrasco Quiroz and Gregoria “Gonzalez”. She married her childhood love, Amador Revelez, on January 27, 1962, in Midland, TX and was happily married for over 60 years. A devoted wife and mother, both she and Amador worked hard together to build a beautiful life for each other and their children. She supported her husband, and in 1973 they moved from Midland to Andrews so he could build his own upholstery business. Forever remaining a team, he named his business using an eponym – A&E Seat Covers.

Always on the go, Elena was playfully known as ‘the Energizer Bunny’ and enjoyed volunteering and remaining active in the Andrews community. Whatever her children were involved in so was she, from the Girl Scouts to the Andrews Might Mustang Band Boosters. She was very involved with her church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she served as President of the Catholic Women’s Organization, served as a Eucharistic Minster, helped with the Catholic Youth Organization and chaperoned student field trips, facilitated in the creation of the new church, and helped organize events such as the annual jamaicas and providing meals for grieving families. Shortly after she and Amador moved to Andrews in 1973, she volunteered to become one of the city’s first Spanish translators for local elections. Her efforts are known to have contributed to the increase of Hispanics voting in the county.

In her free time, Elena loved spending time with her family and friends and would never hesitate to lend a helping hand or cook a warm meal. She was an amazing cook and was known for her salsa, beans, and cheesecakes. She took pride in her home, loved having company, and enjoyed taking care of her gardens and plants. Her favorite pastime was going to play BINGO and loved winning. She had an amazing smile and a twisted sense of humor. She was competitive, believed in working hard, never giving up, and doing your best.

Known as his ‘Baby Doll’, Elena is preceded in death by her loving husband, Amador Garza Revelez who passed away only a year ago; her parents Dionicio and Gregoria Quiroz, and sisters Elma Olgin and Margarita Quiroz.

Elena is survived by her three children: son, Jaime Revelez of Midland, Texas, daughter, Lisa Thomas of Andrews, Texas, and daughter, Marcia “Marcy” Revelez of Atlanta, GA., as well as two grandchildren, Justin Thomas and Dereck Thomas, both of Andrews, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers Felix Quiroz, Sr., of Midland, Texas, Faustino and wife Francis Quiroz of Midland, Texas, Dennis and wife Irma Quiroz of Midland, Texas, and sisters Aida Reyes of Midland, Texas and Socorro and husband Cruz Nuñez of Midland, Texas.
