Kathy Lynn Gatlin
Kathy Lynn Gatlin age 75, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023 at her home in Katy, Tx.
A memorial service will be held at Means Memorial Methodist Church in Andrews, Tx Saturday, July 22nd at 2pm with a reception to follow.
She was born June 19, 1948 in Danville, Illinois to George and Evelyn Nelson. Kathy married Gary Dean Gatlin December 4th, 1976. She is the mother of Chad Gatlin, age 49 and Kristal Gulley, age 44. She is the grandmother of Blake, Marshall, Anna and Tristan Gatlin and Taylor and Ashlynn Gulley. She has 5 great grandchildren, Atlas, Aaron, Octavia, Jacob and Nathan Gulley. She was a devoted wife, mother, Meme, daughter, sister, and friend. She taught Sunday school at Lakeview Christian for 18 years and was a member of the Republican Women chapter in Andrews. Kathy also worked for the Andrew Police department for 32 years and so many of her co-workers were like family. She was blessed to have so many friends in her lifetime and has cherished each of them.
Kathy wanted it to be said that she felt so fortunate to have a father that instilled in her a good work ethic, a sweet caring mother and a husband who loved her unconditionally for 35 years. She never met a stranger and her heart and home were always opened to many of her children’s friends and other family members. She was always so proud to be the big sister to Greg Nelson and Lori Aldrich who she loved and cared for with all her heart. Kathy had the biggest heart and the fight of a warrior.
Kathy is survived by her Children Chad Gatlin, his wife Amy and children who live in Allen, Tx and her daughter Kristal Gulley, husband Jason and their youngest son who live in Katy, Tx and their two older children and grandchildren who live in Portales, NM, brother Greg Nelson and wife Allison in Houston, Tx, and his 2 daughters Alanna Nelson and Erin Berkey and sister Lori Aldrich and her son Chance Aldrich in San Marcos, Tx. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, mother and father – inlaw Frank and Edwina Gatlin, brother-in-law Chris Aldrich, sister-inlaw Barbie Nelson and other loved ones.
