In a game that will go down as one of the greatest in the history of Andrews High School, the AHS Mustangs rallied late for a 43-42 win over the fifth state-ranked Big Spring Steers Friday night on the road.
The game came down to a Big Spring 23-yard field goal attempt to win—and when it sailed wide, Andrews had upset the fifth best team in the state of Texas, 43-42.
“That last drive of ours was simply amazing,” said a smiling but exhausted-looking head coach Ralph Mason. “To be honest I don’t remember most of it.
“We were successful on drawing them offside and once we had the ball at the one yard line we were going for the win on the two point conversion. You know you go for the win on the road and not the tie and it worked out for us.”
