Three title wins and five individual gold medal wins were more than enough to carry the Andrews Mustangs varsity track boys to the team title at the Levelland Relays.
As has been the case for the past three years under coach Bill Stotts, Andrews once again just had too much for the nine-team field.
Behind 60 team points in the relays and both Joe Moreno and John Ives winning two gold medals each—plus Hunter Hicks winning one—Andrews finished with 169 points to beat second place Idalou by 67 points.
In showcasing their relay talents, the 400 combo of Dylan Gallegos, Daniel Jimenez, Braden Grimsley and Robert Ridge won in a time of 43.42. The 800 foursome of Gallegos, Jeremiah Madrilez, Grimsley and Ridge dusted the field with a sizzling time of 1:30.73. The AHS 1600 team of Gallegos, Grimsley, Madrilez and Ives finished off the relays with a first place time of 3:29.95.
